Breaking Benjamin Unveils 'Something Wicked'

Breaking Benjamin has officially released the studio version of their latest single, Something Wicked. This marks the band's first new studio recording since the 2024 track Awaken. While fans at the Welcome to Rockville festival recently experienced the song during its live debut, the polished studio version is now available for radio and streaming platforms.

The release of Something Wicked signals that the band is nearing the completion of a new album. This upcoming project will be their first collection of original material since 2018's Ember. Although the band released Aurora in 2020, that album consisted of reimagined versions of their previous hits rather than new songs.

Musically, Something Wicked aligns with the hard-hitting, brooding sound that has defined the band's career. The track features driving riffs and a more aggressive vocal performance from lead singer Ben Burnley. Burnley explained that the song serves as a glimpse into the band's musical and thematic influences, noting that the group pushed their creative boundaries to produce the track.

The band has also navigated several changes regarding their percussionist. In 2025, drummer Shaun Foist stepped down to manage health challenges associated with Hashimoto's disease. While James Cassells of Asking Alexandria provided the drums for the studio recording of Something Wicked, Brian Medeiros (formerly of RED and Otherwise)has joined the lineup as the touring drummer.

Looking forward, Breaking Benjamin will perform at the Sonic Temple festival this weekend before embarking on a European tour in June. In September, the band will launch a major U.S. headlining tour featuring support from Chevelle, Starset, and Kami Kehoe. Fans can find full tour dates and ticket details on the band's official website.
