Rock band BLACK LABEL SOCIETY is set to release their new album, Engines Of Demolition, on March 27. The album features 15 tracks, including a special song titled Ozzy's Song, which is a heartfelt tribute to legendary singer Ozzy Osbourne. Black Label Society band leader and longtime guitarist for Ozzy, Zakk Wylde, shared the story behind this emotional track.
Wylde explained that he had written the music for Ozzy's Song a while ago. However, the lyrics came to him late one night after Ozzy's passing. He found himself in a quiet room, headphones on, looking at a book about Ozzy, and the words simply flowed out. The song's working title, "Ozzy's Song," stuck because Wylde's wife loved it, and fans often wondered if he would write a tribute for Ozzy, similar to his song for late PANTERA guitarist Dimebag Darrell.
A music video for Ozzy's Song is also scheduled for release on March 27, coinciding with the album launch.
BLACK LABEL SOCIETY has also been performing Ozzy's classic song No More Tears during their current tour. Wylde mentioned that this performance is a tribute to Ozzy, especially after he performed it at the BRIT Awards to celebrate Ozzy's lifetime achievement award.
The article also touches on Wylde's close relationship with Ozzy, who he viewed as an older brother. Wylde became Ozzy's guitarist in 1987 and played on many of his solo albums. He expressed that he never imagined Ozzy would be gone, always seeing him as resilient and able to overcome health challenges. Wylde recalled his final text exchange with Ozzy after their last performance together, where they shared their mutual affection. Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22, 2025.
