Jack Osbourne recently provided an update on the highly anticipated biopic centering on his parents, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne and manager Sharon Osbourne. During a May 12 livestream on his YouTube channel, Jack revealed that while the project is moving forward, the film likely will not be released until 2028. Despite the distant date, Jack emphasized that the production is "full steam ahead" and the team is currently working to attach a director.
The film is being developed in partnership with Sony Pictures and Polygram Entertainment. Rather than a standard musical biography, the narrative will focus primarily on the love story between Ozzy and Sharon. The plot is expected to cover the end of Ozzy's tenure with Black Sabbath, his transition into a successful solo career, the volatility of the early 1980s, and the tragic death of guitarist Randy Rhoads.
Sharon Osbourne has stated that she wants the movie to be a realistic and honest portrayal of their lives, avoiding the sanitized approach often seen in music biopics. She envisions the film as a story of survival and resilience, designed for an adult audience. While the official cast has not yet been announced, Jack noted that they have already selected a "phenomenal" actor to play his father.
The project is being scripted by Lee Hall, who previously wrote the Elton John biopic, Rocketman. To ensure authenticity, the film will feature music from both Black Sabbath and Ozzy's solo discography. Produced by Osbourne Media, the biopic aims to capture the chaotic yet enduring relationship of one of rock music's most iconic couples. Although Ozzy has expressed impatience regarding the long production process, the family remains excited to bring their origin story to the big screen.
